The artworld fine art series highlights world famous and infamous artists throughout history, from the Renaissance period to the present. Mark Di Suvero - It's in the Steel - one of the artists' monumental sculptures called For Gerard Manley Hopkins weighs over 4 tons and it moves at the slightest breath of wind. It was transported there from the Oil & Steel Gallery in Long Island City. In December of 1990 it was constructed over 2 days on the grassy knoll overlooking Venice Beach with the use of a crane and several steel workers, who happened to be Marks sons. The balance of all of di Suveros work is key to their beauty and grace, yet they are constructed of huge streel girders. As Mark di Suvero says, It's in the Steel.
