The 9-title Wonders of Physics and Chemistry series covers everything from the definition of an atom to the science of light. Students can start to develop basic understandings of the fundamentals of science, then work their way up to more complex subjects. Each program includes a subject specific teachers guide which includes subject matter revision and suggestions on how to present material, questions to ask students, and class projects to help illustrate the key concepts. All ordinary matter in the universe is made up of protons, neutrons and electrons combined in different kinds of atoms to form elements, and as such, they cannot be simplified or chemically broken into smaller pieces. This episode of the Show Me Science series, Atoms and Elements takes a look at these building blocks and how they can be combined, through various chemical processes to create compounds. Viewers will also learn how we produce elements out of natural occurring materials, and see a "reality based experiment showing how forensic scientists identify basic materials to prove or disprove evidence against possible criminals.
