Veterans Journey Home

Veterans Journey Home is a powerful five-part documentary series that highlights the inspiring stories of Veterans who, once estranged from society, make the difficult journey back into their vital roles as leaders within their families, businesses, and communities. This documentary offers a unique perspective on the "Hero's Journey," focusing not on the traditional tales of battlefield heroism, but rather on the inner battle these Veterans face as they strive to find emotional and psychological peace with the aftermath of their past actions and decisions. Their struggle is a different kind of courage-one that requires confronting deep emotional pain, trauma, and self-doubt, rather than bullets or bombs. The series uncovers the hidden struggles many Veterans face, from feelings of loss, rage, and betrayal, to moments of intense fear and self-loathing. Through these intimate stories, we gain a deeper understanding of the emotional journey that soldiers must undertake as they return to civilian life. Across racial, cultural, and gender lines, these Veterans-men and women, African Americans, Latinos, and more-share their raw and unfiltered experiences. Directed by Oscar and Emmy-nominated filmmaker Frederick Marx ("Hoop Dreams"), this documentary brings to light the personal, courageous battles Veterans fight after their time in combat, not on the frontlines, but within themselves.
