Covering 18 different departments from Grips to Costume, Lighting to Makeup, the series vividly presents the jobs and lives of film production workers and explores the technical aspects of producing a film by talking to the people who make it happen. In each program, The Crew follows technicians from three various departments, in the milieu of a film set as they perform their jobs. The technicians talk candidly about hierarchy, job demands and the creative aspects of each position. They discuss how to get started, entry-level skills required, pay rates to expect and the personal pros and cons of working in "the business." Head (or Key) Hair Stylist: Styles the hair on all on-camera talent. Also supervises the fitting of any wigs or mustaches, as well as hair tinting. Head of department. Production Coordinator: Provides organizational, logistical and clerical support to the production. Responsible for setting up and managing the office, arranging for travel and permits, creating and distributing paperwork such as scripts, script changes, call sheets, schedules and location maps.
