Andre Emmerich was known as one of the top art dealers in the art world throughout his career. Along with championing many world renowned artists, he was one of the first people to write about pre-Columbian art. He believed passionately in his artists and felt that a strong personal relationship with his artists was key to a long lasting bond. He often turned down the opportunity to work with an artist if he felt he would not enjoy being with them. Later in life he began to install sculpture at an abandoned Quaker dairy farm, he renamed Top Gallant Farm. He was the quintessential art dealer.
