We've got a treat for you on today's episode of travel thru history. We're headed to the land of sunsets and surfboards where we'll discover the birthplace of California - in the beautiful city of San Diego. First, we'll meet the Conquistador that put San Diego on the map, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo and climb aboard a historic replica of his ship, the San Salvador. Then, we'll keep our nautical theme going, and check out some of the amazing floating vessels located in San Diego harbor at the Maritime Museum, including a real star. After that, it's highway to the danger zone on top of the flight deck of the USS Midway, the longest serving carrier of the 20th century and the original home to the Navy's TOP GUN fighter school, a carrier that can truly take your breath away. And finally, we get a spectacular view of the San Diego Skyline atop the California Tower now open to the public after 80 years.
