Featuring celebrities, innovators and people with extraordinary jobs. Voted one of the "Top 50" Burlesque Performers! In an era where sexual imagery is everywhere, it's hard to believe that a woman dressed in an evening gown, teasingly eyeing her audience while slowly removing a silk glove, can still cause a stir. Queen of burlesque and Fire Tassels, Tanya Cheex shares the intimate details about "taking her clothes off" and what it's like to be this type of artist. As a burlesque dancer, she co-produces, directs, choreographs and acts out all her crazy fantasies on stage. It's essential when you're doing striptease says Cheex, to choreograph your act with the removal of the clothing, because you have to know how everything's going to come off in some sort of an artistical and playful manner. It's all about the tease and the execution, so the choreography and the removal have to be put together properly. With burlesque, it's all about smoke and mirrors, you have to go out on stage and convince the audience you're the most glamorous creature alive. Cheex herself has experienced an evolution in her own performing. "A lot of my early acts where based on sexual archetypes, now I base things on the beautiful grotesque like Human Ponygirls or Parasitical Twins." Not surprising from someone who lists Circus Sideshow Freaks, Tura Satana and Satan's Angel, as her inspirations. She makes it her goal to find the most uncomfortable-looking audience member and does her best to "make them squirm!"
